DevReach 2012 - More than experience

Yesterday I returned from the DevReach conference, full of impressions. The organisation was wonderful, and there was a great deal of knowledge to take in. I had the chance to learn about current trends in programming, especially mobile platforms.

My head is full of information that is difficult to process at the moment. I feel as if I have eaten too much knowledge over these past few days, like a child who has had too much candy :) I attended several sessions about frameworks I had not heard of before, as well as presentations on ASP.NET, Visual Studio 2012 and one or two development environments. Last but not least, there were several conceptual talks that completed the picture.

The talk that impressed me most was given by Todd Anglin, one of the vice presidents at Telerik. He presented how to build a mobile application with HTML5, a UI framework from Telerik, a mobile application framework, cloud hosting and remote debugging. I will try to share more details because the material was truly worthwhile!

Last but not least, the infrastructure was excellent. Using a cinema centre for a conference was a great idea: spacious halls, good technical facilities and food on site. The organisers took care of everything - coffee, tea, breakfast, fruit, food vouchers and, finally, plenty of beer ;) Thank you! I would also like to thank my employer, who financed this wonderful experience.

17.10.2026, RainCheck - a tiny PWA built with AI

With Codex, we built RainCheck, a tiny framework-free weather app using TypeScript, SCSS and Vite. It works offline with saved forecasts; the reusable AI PWA playbook came afterwards, distilled from the working app and its real-world trade-offs. See the project page... and open RainCheck.
